We design fixed and removable dental prostheses, fully customised, to restore the function and aesthetics of your smile. We work with high-quality materials that guarantee comfort, durability and a completely natural result.
Missing teeth seriously affect the function of the mouth and also influence aesthetics. That is why it is best to replace lost teeth immediately, and for that purpose several types of PROSTHESIS have been developed, depending on each case:
Whatever type of prosthesis is chosen, only the dentist can advise you and select the best type and the appropriate materials for each situation.
At CLÍNICA DENTAL COSTA BLANCA we work with all types of prostheses using the highest professionalism and the most modern methods.
A FIXED PROSTHESIS rebuilds or replaces damaged or missing teeth.
There are several types of fixed prosthesis on natural teeth or implants:
VENEERS are thin sheets of composite or ceramic (“porcelain”) applied to the front face (the visible side) of the teeth. This treatment is very conservative, as it only requires shallow preparation of the outer surface. Veneers are widely used in dental aesthetics to correct malformations or misalignments, or simply to achieve a perfect colour and shape (“Hollywood smile”).
Depending on the material and technique used, a distinction is made between composite veneers (more economical but less durable) and porcelain veneers (with the best aesthetics and durability), which are recommended according to each individual case.
CROWNS are custom-made caps of metal, ceramic or both materials, matching the colour of the teeth. They are made on a model in the dental laboratory and cemented onto the prepared tooth.
To replace missing teeth, crowns on adjacent teeth can be joined with intermediate units (pontics) to form a BRIDGE.
The bridge is fabricated as a single piece in the dental laboratory. It may be ceramic or metal-ceramic. It is fixed by cementing its crowns onto the teeth, thus replacing the missing teeth so that they are neither seen nor felt.
A REMOVABLE PROSTHESIS or “DENTURE” is one that the patient can take out to clean. It is used when several teeth are already missing (partial prosthesis) or even all of them (complete prosthesis).
Removable prostheses may be made of resin (acrylic or other plastics) or metal, also called “skeletal” prostheses.
Partial prostheses rest both on the teeth and on the mucosa.
Although the framework may be metal, the teeth and gum reconstructions are made of acrylic resin.
COMBINED PROSTHESES consist of a fixed prosthesis and a metal removable prosthesis as part of the same design on the same arch, joined by an attachment system known as an “attache”.
This type of prosthesis has several advantages, such as better aesthetics (by eliminating retainer arms that may be visible), improved retention of the prosthesis and protection of the teeth and gums.
In an IMPLANT-SUPPORTED PROSTHESIS the implant is used as support instead of the natural root, for both fixed and removable prostheses. Implants are used to anchor a complete resin prosthesis, or even to rebuild the entire natural dentition with ceramic (“porcelain”) teeth.
