When a cavity is not treated in time, the infection advances and reaches the nerve, causing inflammation and pain.
To treat inflammation of the nerve it is necessary to perform ENDODONTICS (“endo” = inside; “odont” = tooth).
Under local anaesthesia the nerve is removed, the canal is cleaned and disinfected, and finally it is sealed. Afterwards the tooth needs to be filled or rebuilt. If it is badly damaged, a titanium post (screw) is cemented and a crown is placed.
It is very important to prevent or treat cavities at an early stage, because endodontics is the last resort to save a tooth.
